We were not sure what to expect when CC was shown for the first time
. . . she is very secretive, keeping us on a "need to know" basis about everything. In October 2011,
at six months of age, she made her debut conformation appearance in Belton, Texas, facing mature competition in the Bred-by
Exhibitor class. CC captured a reserve major win at the Bell County Kennel Club show on Sunday, October 23, 2011,
under Judge Gary L. Doerge. She captured her first point at her next show weekend, taking Winners Bitch, Best of Winners
and Best Opposite Sex at the Cypress Creek Kennel Club show under Judge Christine Erickson on November 13, 2011. She
had a clean sweep the following weekend at the Brazoria Kennel Club shows on November 19 and 20, 2011, under Judges Ann Hearn
and Norm Kenney, taking Winners Bitch both days from the Bred-by Exhibitor class, plus Best of Winners and Best Opposite Sex
on Sunday.
CC next captured back-to-back Winners Bitch wins at the
Houston/Galveston County Kennel Club shows March 17-18, 2012, under Judges Lydia Coleman Hutchinson and Gloria L. Geringer.
CC then took a couple of one-day show trips, first to Navasota on March 31, 2012, for the Brazos Valley Kennel Club show,
and then to Crosby on April 7, 2012, for the San Jacinto Kennel Club show, taking Winners Bitch on both occasions, under Judges
Norman L. Patton and Lenora M. Riddle. Our next road trip was to the Cajun Cowboy Cluster in Lake Charles,
Louisiana (June 7-10, 2012), where CC won her first major (4 points) under Judge Dawn Hansen, and took 4-point and 5-point
reserve major wins under Judges Barbara Dempsey Alderman and Michele L. Billings, all from the Bred-by Exhibitor class.
Our last show for 2012 was the Lone Star State Classic cluster in Dallas
(December 6-9, 2012), where CC was Winners Bitch the first day under Judge Fred Askin and Bred-by 1st place with Reserve wins two
of the three other days. CC ended the year needing only a major to earn her championship title.
With no majors on the horizon close to home, professional handler Alfonso Escobedo took CC on a
first class trip to win her championship on Friday, March 1, 2013, her first day at the Fiesta Cluster in Scottsdale,
Arizona, where CC was Winners Bitch and Best Opposite Sex, earning a major and her CH title under Judge
Bart A. Miller at the Superstition Kennel Club show. CC was shown as a new champion the rest of the weekend and
won her first grand champion major the next day when Judge Edd E. Bivin awarded her Best Opposite Sex at the Valley
of the Sun West Highland White Terrier Club Specialty show on March 2, 2013. CC was also Best Opposite Sex the next
two days at the Scottsdale Dog Fanciers Association shows on March 3 and 4, 2013.
Following back-to-back Best of Breed
(and a Terrier Group 3) wins at the Houston and Galveston County KC shows on March 16-17, 2013, Alfonso took CC to Fort Worth
for the March 22-24 weekend where she won BISS at the Trinity Valley West Highland White Terrier Club Specialty show under
Judge Dr. Alvin W. Krause, then Best of Breed the next two days at the Fort Worth KC shows, plus a new Grand Champion title
and Terrier Group placement on Sunday under Judges Harold "Red" Tatro III and Michael J. Dougherty.
