The Proper WestieTM
Welcome to our wonderful world of Westies! We fell in love with the West
Highland White Terrier breed many years ago. In the mid-1990s, we moved our focus to the show ring and, subsequently,
to our own program of producing quality Westies for conformation and performance events (see our Foundation and Progeny pages). As serious fanciers, we placed an
emphasis on type, function, genetic integrity, structural soundness, health and temperament,
with the aim of improving the breed and producing The Proper WestieTM. If you want to learn more about this special breed, or think you may enjoy being owned by a Westie, then we strongly encourage you to visit all pages of the West Highland White Terrier Club of America (WHWTCA) website for essential information. The WHWTCA website includes a history and profile of the Westie, offers guidance on purchasing a puppy, has tips on training and grooming, health information, rescue resources, and much more (see our Links page for other sites; and see below for more information about us).
We (Charles and Paula Cohen)
are members of the West Highland White Terrier Club of America,
the West Highland White Terrier Club of Southeast Texas, the Houston All-Terrier Club and former members of the Fort
Bend Kennel Club (an all-breed club). We stopped exhibiting our dogs in 2020 and, therefore, are no longer breeding
Westies, but decided to leave our website up for a while and encourage anyone interested in being owned by a Westie to fully
research the breed first to make sure it is the right fit for you/your family. In addition to research, a great place to learn
